5th letter from Hengelo, Netherlands -- Week 41

Hooii,

Well, it has been a crazy week! Basically, nothing has gone our way.

At the beginning of the week there was a hurricane, haha. The wind was just crazy and there were little kids and small cars blowing in the air.  On Tuesday after district meeting, we headed to a lesson.  On the train ride, a tree blew down onto the train track so we had to get off.  We took a huge 2 hour detour and ended up not having enough time to go to our lesson with Angela, so we had to reschedule.

On Thursday we worked with the Sisters in Apeldoorn.  We went to a lesson with them and then ate lunch at McDonalds afterwards.  It was super fun! We rode back to the station and were ready to catch our train and Elder Frisby said, "Wait, where’s the phone?!" We rode back to McDonalds and looked everywhere, but it wasn’t there, so we haven’t had a phone for the last couple of days.  We couldn’t call anyone or make any appointments.  Terrible.

Elder Frisby had one of those weeks this week.  He left his gloves on the train, lost the phone, and then lost his wallet! Ha, what a mess.  At least if someone found his wallet, they would give us a call..... On the phone that we don’t have.  Haha.  We were at least able to track down where he left his wallet.  It was in a city about 2 hours away at a gas station.  He had left it there 2 days before, so on Saturday we made the trip out to Winterswijk to get his wallet.  The gas station told us they gave it to City Hall.  We went to the City Hall aaaand they were closed! We can’t go back until Wednesday this week to get it.

After all of this mess, we traveled to Zwolle for district leader council.  We got there and there was nobody there! They had changed the time, but because we didn’t have a phone, there was no way for us to find out, so we just had to go home.

General Conference was great! I can’t believe how many speakers talked about the importance of families.  That truly shows you how important families are in our time.  We watched it in Apeldoorn at the church building there and had a big potluck dinner in between the sessions which was really fun.

It was a terrible week where everything that could go wrong, did.  But we are both somehow still really happy.  We are getting a new phone tonight and his wallet on Wednesday, so this week will be back on track! Tonight we are heading to spend the night at the mission home for temple conference tomorrow!

Well, despite this week, the church is still true! I am so thankful for a living prophet on the earth.  God is our Heavenly Father and He loves you!
